Ackquille Jean Pollard, known by the stage name Bobby Shmurda, is an American rapper and musician. Along with Rowdy Rebel, Shmurda is considered the pioneer of drill music in Brooklyn. He gained international popularity in 2014 when his song "Hot Nigga" reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100. The success of the single led Shmurda to sign with Epic Records. His first EP, Shmurda She Wrote, was released on November 10, 2014. On December 18, 2014, New York City Police arrested Shmurda and charged him and several other members of GS9 with conspiracy to kill, possess weapons and risk danger. In 2016, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to seven years in prison, reduced to five years after receiving credit for two years he served while awaiting trial. After more than six years in prison, Shmurda was released from Clinton Correctional Center on February 23, 2021. His release was widely hailed in the hip-hop community.

He goes by the stage name Ackquille Pollard and is a charting rap musician signed to Epic Records. His dance, known as the Shmoney, made him famous.
